Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gambling is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of most borders.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel building that contains numerous luxuries aside from the gambling den, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
