Despite the fact that online betting is now a multi-billion dollar business, and countless thousands of new players around the globe log on daily to play at internet gambling dens, there are still millions of new players to the world of internet wagering who do not as yet have a good understanding of much of the terminology employed in web wagering, and gambling on sports in general. Nonetheless, understanding of these terms is necessary to interpreting the games and regulations of betting:
ACTION: Any style of bet.
ALL-IN: In poker, all-in means a gambler has risked all of their money into the pot. A side pot is created for the bettors with remaining chips.
ALL-UP: To bet on many horses in the same race.
ANTE: A poker phrase for placing a necessary value of chips into the pot beforeevery hand starts.
BRING-IN: A necessary wager in seven-card stud made by the gambler displaying the lowest value card.
BUST: You lose; As in vingt-et-un, when a gambler’s cards are valued over twenty-one.
BUY-IN: The minimum amount of cash required to appear in a game or tournament.
CALL: As in poker, when a wager equals a previously carried out bet.
CHECK: In poker, to remain in the match and not betting. This is allowed only if no other gamblers wager in that round.
CLOSING A BET: Like in spread wagering, meaning to place a bet equal to but opposite of the opening wager.
COLUMN BET: To wager on any of the 3 columns of a roulette table.
COME BET: In craps, similar to a pass-line wager, but made after the hurler has ascertained her point.
COME-OUT ROLL: A crapshooters 1st roll to achieve a point, or the 1st toss after a point is arrived at.
COVERALL: A bingo term, which means to blanket all the spots on a bingo sheet.
CRAPPING OUT: In craps, to toss a 2, three or 12 is an automatic loss on the come-out roll.
DAILY DOUBLE: To select the winners of the initial 2 events of the night.
DOWN BET: To wager that the outcome of an event will be smaller than the smallest end of the quote on a spread bet, also referred to as a "sell".
DOZEN BET: In roulette, to wager on any of 3 groups of 12 numbers, 1-12, etc.
EACH WAY BET: A sports wager, meaning to bet on a team or player to succeed or place in an event.
EVEN MONEY BET: A bet that pays the identical value as bet, ( 1-1 ).
EXACTA: Betting that 2 horses in an event will finish in the absolute identical order as the bet – also referred to as a " Perfecta ".
FIVE-NUMBER LINE BET: In roulette, a bet placed on a group of five numbers, for instance 1-2-3-0, and 00.
