Cambodia Casinos
There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that highlights many comforts aside from the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
